Avoiding Pitfalls in Health Ministry
Health ministries – a contemporary term for medical missionary work - is often seen by some as a divisive hot topic. Some churches experience strife, controversy, and even “potluck wars.” This is ironic and sad since the health message was given by God with the purpose of building us up, maximizing our physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual potential enabling us to hear
God more clearly and serve others more intentionally.
The Christian View of Human Life Committee was established by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist for reviewing issues in our current society that impinge upon the dignity and value of human life. The committee is composed of individuals from a wide specter of disciplines Iincluding church administrators, theologians, pastors, physicians, lawyers, counselors, and social workers. In addition, expertise in the various fields of knowledge are invited to the committee to bring factual information on issues being discussed.
