Mission Fire At Kalamba!!

Over 1000 people from all walks of life assembled at Kalamba 7 kms from Mityana town in West Buganda Field, Uganda to celebrate the 150th Anniversary since the first Adventist Missionary set out from the United States to go into the world with the gospel.

Adventists, Muslims, Anglican, politicians and villagers joined in celebrating , at  Kalamba where  the first Seventh-day Adventist church was established after the first converts decided they needed a place to congregate from.

The ceremony was held on Sabbath of 26th October 2024 and was presided over by the East and Central Africa Division Executive Secretary Dr. Musa Mitekaro who was accompanied by the ECD Field Secretary Pr. Muasya Paul also the Adventist Mission Director at ECD>

All the Uganda Union Officers and Departmental Directors were present alongside all the 11 Field and 1 Conference Presidents. The Entity presidents were accompanied by their Executive Secretaries and Executive Treasurers.

Speaking under the theme: “Reigniting Passion for the Worldwide Mission” Dr. Mitekaro spoke of the commitment and the dedication and sacrifice of the early Missionaries and challenged those present to commit themselves to the same Mission. Hundreds stood up to recommit themselves to the Mission when the preacher made a call amidst a heavy downpour.

Later a modest fundraising   resulted into over 150 million shillings with every Union Entity contributing including Medical and Educational institutions. The Golola family, descendants of the pioneer Simon Golola contributed one hundred million shillings alongside refurbishing the graves of the pioneers.

Uganda Union has embarked on constructing a memorial church which is 97 m in commemoration of the 97 years since the Adventist Church started in Uganda in 2027. It is expected to be completed by 2027 as one of the memorials of a 100 years of Adventist presence in Uganda.
