Uganda Union Mission gets New Leadership Team for 2025–2030*

The Uganda Union Mission (UUM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has got a new leadership team for the 2025–2030 term, ushering in a blend of seasoned and youthful leaders to steer the church’s mission in the coming five years. The appointments mark a significant milestone in shaping the future direction of the Adventist work in Uganda.

President: Pr. Samuel Kajoba

At the helm of the Union is Pr. Samuel Kajoba, a veteran church leader with over three decades of service. Born in November 1958, Pr. Kajoba,  has served in multiple leadership capacities ranging from school chaplaincy and district leadership to Conference President. He holds a Bachelor of Theology from Bugema University and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from the Adventist University of Africa.

His most recent role was as Executive President of the Central Uganda Conference (CUC), where he is credited with significant church growth and nurturing of new mission fields. Married to Margaret Kajoba, the couple has six children. His presidency is expected to bring stability and continuity to the mission, drawing from his vast pastoral and administrative experience.

Executive Secretary: Pr. Nicholas Birigwa Bitamazire

Appointed as Executive Secretary, Pr. Nicholas Birigwa Bitamazire, 44, represents a younger generation of leadership within the Union. Born on March 26, 1981, he brings a strong academic background with degrees in both Physics and Mathematics (Makerere University) and Theology (Bugema University). He further obtained a Master of Arts in Religion from the Adventist University of Africa and is currently pursuing a PhD in Theology at the same institution.

Pr. Bitamazire has served in a variety of roles, including teaching, chaplaincy, district leadership, and lecturing at Bugema University, before assuming the role of Executive Secretary in 2023. He is married to Rachael Nakibuuka, and together they have five children. His appointment signals continuity and emphasis on strengthening the Union’s administrative and educational mission.

Executive Treasurer: Elder Isaac Lyada

The role of Executive Treasurer has been entrusted to Elder Isaac Lyada, 40, a finance professional with 12 years of treasury service in the Adventist Church. Born on August 23, 1985, Elder Lyada is a graduate of Bugema University, holding both a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance.

He has served as Field Treasurer for the Eastern Uganda Field and more recently the Mid-Eastern Uganda Field, where he demonstrated strong stewardship and accountability in managing church finances. Elder Lyada is married to Jesca Kongai, a teacher by profession, and together they are blessed with four children. His appointment reflects the Union’s trust in his financial leadership and commitment to prudent resource management.

A New Era of Mission and Leadership

The new UUM leadership team embodies a blend of experience, academic rigor, and dedication to the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. With Pr. Kajoba’s seasoned leadership, Pr. Bitamazire’s youthful energy and academic pursuit, and Elder Lyada’s financial stewardship, the Union is positioned to continue its growth in evangelism, education, and community service.

As the Adventist community in Uganda looks to the future, the 2025–2030 leadership promises to strengthen mission work, deepen discipleship, and build a foundation for sustainable growth in the region.
